How instruction is structured
The classroom uses five learning centers targeting IEP goals. Instruction follows an "I do, we do, you do" model to build toward independence. Centers cover reading, math, community skills, and vocational skills.
Period structure
Students have four periods in the ESN classroom setting and two mainstream (general education) periods — PE and one elective. In mainstream settings, students are on the general education teacher's roster and supported by assistants at approximately a 4:1 ratio, adjusted for individual needs. All of which is closely monitored by Mrs. King and her teaching partner to ensure all necessary accommodations and supports are utilized.
The day begins at 8:15 with independent binder work followed by a morning meeting. Morning meeting covers attendance, weather, and social-practice routines before students transition into center rotations.
